Ohio Department of Commerce proposes cannabis rules
Ohio is one step closer to the legal sale of marijuana within its borders.
The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Cannabis Control recently proposed rules for non-medical cannabis license applications for operators with medical-use licenses.
The new rules propose definitions related to licensing applications, including application and dual-use licenses, the time period an initial application for non-medical licensing and who is eligible to apply.
This includes offences that would disqualify people or companies from applying for non-medical licenses. this includes a conviction or guilty plea, including conspiracy to commit, attempt to commit or aiding and abetting another any offenses related Ohio Revised Code Chapters 2925, 3719 and 4729.
This means that any operator convicted of or pleading guilty to crimes like corrupting others with a drug, drug trafficking, selling a controlled substance, aggravated robbery, fraud and more.
Exemptions are in place for those convicted of cannabis possession, trafficking cultivation or use of cannabis.
Public comments on this proposal can be submitted to the Department of Commerce until February 27.
