Man, I love Huberman and what he is trying to do, but it's painful trying to listen to his full recordings because of how often he repeats the same concepts over and over again, constantly interrupting himself to repeat what he has already said… It's like, if he learned how to speak concisely, this entire episode could be condensed into 3 minutes. "And again, I'm using the term Cannabis as an umbrella term for CBD, THC". "And I feel obligated to say it's not always bad to use cannabis" "And by use cannabis I mean smoke, ingest, or use tinctures, eyedrops, gummies" "And by gummies I mean cannabis infused gummies. And by cannabis, rememember I'm using it as an umbrella term for CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids." "And by THC I mean Delta 9." "And remember I"m using Cannabis and Marijuana interchangably." Even listening at 1.5x it's painful.
thank you very much for this view and informations/knowledge shared
though – i have a couple of points which maybe inspire a deeper look for anyone. 1- properties of specific substances other than thc and cbs —other cannabinoids/terpenes/flavonoids etc , 2- molecular differences among strains(exmpl og kush vs white widow) 3- same differences between plant types(sativa/indica/ruderalis)
research around this plant seems to have been very retarded but is accelerating as of recently , what im saying is – it is exciting to see real time research on this topic
I was looking for this information; someone told me that we had natural the receptors for MJ so I tried to informed myself about these receptors but I finally got the explanation here. You are right; it is the name of the receptors that is misleading.
Andrew, thank you for continuing to be my favorite podcast host, biology/chemistry/anatomy/neuroscience teacher, medical educator, and marvelous vocal illustrator for all things science! This episode on cannabis was captivating, illuminating, and informative! I feel happier and more grateful about life with the education you so accessibly provide!
Did u ever do the video about reversing the effects of cannabis and other drugs during adolescence? Or if anyone has any good information about that topic cheers
Dear Doctor Huberman, could you lead me into good scientistic and medically fundamental lecture to self study a little bit about the effects of cannabis on brain, but also body? very interested!!
The only reason the states are allowing legalization is this: it creates tax revenue. The same reason they re-legalized liquor. There you have it, the greed of the dollar and lining the pockets. Won't matter how many die from drunk driving, the tax money is too good. Seriously. Oh don't forget the fda says it's safe
dopamine agonist. We are going to see generational spikes in psychiatric disorders due to the compound changing genetics. A chronic cannabis user may have a child with dopamine related issues including mood disorders or schizophrenia.
A lot of people will die before the marijuana stops. It will destroy you and your family. Smoke=cancer. The worst, my neighbors smoking outside are smoking my kids inside my house, I hate it!.
The saying that with time greater amounts are needed to reduce anxiety is not a rule, at all, 50 years smoking of wich 12 daily, and it s not the case for me: you can manage that point and you have to do it from the begining, it s a mind set, that s what I did, and so did guys I know. It s possible, you have to have a strong will, based on self respect " I rule, not thc". 😊 if you do not, you re dobe, Andrew is quite right, I have also seen the dependency he describes, so did you all, be honest 😮
Excellent video ! You just miss one thing. Thrichomes have a maturation point . Genetics are key but also point of maturation . When trichomes are milky white they content more thc head high. When they turn amber they are turning into cbn with more body high . Just like fruits more mature more sugar . Genetics play and important role but maturation to . Also terpene profile add to diferent responses in the body . It is belive that myrcene helps in the body high of indicas. And much more depending on the terpene palet.
I started smoking Marijuana since my teenage, got addicted to cigarettes. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes addiction. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my husband recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.
Thank you for this video. I am not a drug user and trying my best to not use prescription or OTC drugs as well. Human beings are not meant to be chronic drug users. Eventually you will shorten your life span and the quality of it. Plus it might affect future children someone might have.
Thanks Doctor. I have no idea what quitting attempt I am on or how many times I’ve watched/listened to this. You really help a lot of us understand our brain and what’s going on, which helps fighting the addiction.

I started cannabis as an elderly person in awful pain – it's not working
Dude ur really good at explaining complex science terms, thank u
The reason I want to quit is because I spend 5-6 thousand a year on this stuff

This whole indica versus sativa intro is indistinguishable from bro science

I am from Brazil, unfortunately it is not legal here yet and hard for medicinal users as well in terms of accessibility (such as myself).

This is for entertainment only, he says what he is paid to say.
Every time he says, "Et Cetera"…TAKE A HIT!
How long after you stop smoking does it take for your hormones etc to return to normal?
