Bridgeport church to host community conversation on dangers of marijuana use

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport is hoping to educate the local community this Thursday as it plans to host its 11th Annual Community Conversation on Substance Use Disorder.

The conversation will be held by the Healthcare Ministry at the church and will feature of panel of experts who will speak on the hazards of marijuana use in adolescents and adults alike. Dr. Mita Johnson will be the keynote speaker at the event via Zoom and will share lessons she has that are specific to marijuana use.


“It’s important to our committee that we educate people properly, and especially the people that are in public service that hold public offices within Harrison County, and within the state. So, that they’re making you know informed decisions about substance use disorder and about people that suffer from substance abuse disorder.” Healthcare Ministry Coordinator Ellen Condron said.

The event will take place at All Saints Catholic Church on April 18 at 5 p.m. It will begin with a resource hour at 5 p.m. with the expert panel running from 6-8 p.m.
