JARS Cannabis held a grand opening event and ribbon-cutting ceremony in Chesterfield Township last week to celebrate the opening of the company’s third storefront location in Macomb County.
Members of the township’s Board of Trustees, along with officials from both the Anchor Bay and Southeast Michigan chambers of commerce were on hand for the event.
The 3,100-square-foot retail facility, Chesterfield’s first recreational cannabis dispensary, opened in February marking the Troy-based company’s 21st location in Michigan.
Grand opening festivities included a food truck, limited-edition giveaways, and storewide discounts of 30% off, all aimed at fostering a well-informed and inclusive cannabis culture within the Chesterfield Township community, JARS officials said.
The dispensary offers a selection of hundreds of flowers and pre-rolls, edibles, vapes, concentrates topicals and tinctures with a variety of price points. It also has curbside pickup and delivery options.
Chesterfield Township was among hundreds of municipalities that voted to opt out of granting cannabis licenses after Michigan voters approved the legalization of recreational cannabis in 2018. A petition drive was launched four years later.
The marijuana proposal passed with 57% of the 20,700 voters casting ballots in support of the measure.
JARS officials also say the businesses contribute to the economic vitality of Chesterfield Township, creating new jobs and placing the business on the tax rolls.
The Michigan marijuana industry reported $3 billion in total sales in 2023, according to the state’s Cannabis Regulatory Agency. That puts the Great Lakes in second place among the largest cannabis markets in the nation, after California, according to the state’s Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
JARS has 40 retail storefronts in Michigan, Arizona and Colorado. Other locations in Macomb County include Center Line and Mount Clemens, while another is being constructed on Groesbeck Highway in Roseville.
JARS Chesterfield is located at 51679 Gratiot Avenue, north of 23 Mile Road. The facility is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. More information is available at shopJARS.com, follow @JARS_life on Instagram, or call 1877-420-JARS.
