Man arrested after police seized about 2400 pounds of marijuana in Corning | News

CORNING, Calif. – A man was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and selling or transporting it for sale without all required licenses after police found him with about 2400 pounds of marijuana on him on March 31.

On March 31, at about 7:50 p.m., officers saw a U-Haul truck pull into a parking lot near the 900 block of Highway 99w and drove past them as they were standing outside of their patrol vehicle, Corning Police said.

As the U-Haul drove by, the officers were able to smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the back of the truck, police said. They contacted the driver because of the odor.

The driver told police he wasn’t aware of anything illegal inside the U-Haul and was driving it to help a friend move.

Police identified the driver as Kyle Raymond Chidester and found out he was the person who authorized the lease through U-Haul.
