JEFFERSON, N.C. (WJZY) — A teen has been arrested after being found with an assortment of drugs including more than five pounds of marijuana, according to the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 7, a deputy was patrolling in Jefferson when he saw a vehicle with several traffic violations.
The deputy performed a traffic stop and identified the driver as 18-year-old Joshua Smith Cordoba from Catawba. Officials said he was driving on an indefinitely suspended license.
The deputy searched the vehicle and found three concealed handguns, a large sum of money, more than five pounds of marijuana, a bag of mushrooms and several drug paraphernalia items.
Cordoba was arrested and charged with:
- Felony possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance
- Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana
- Felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
- Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance
- Possession of marijuana paraphernalia
- Carrying a concealed gun
- Driving while license revoked (not impaired)
- Resisting a public officer
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
He was booked into the Ashe County Detention Center and received a $40,000 secured bond.
