3 arrested after overnight break-in at Southwest Michigan marijuana shop

VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI – Charges are pending against three men accused of breaking into a dispensary overnight to steal marijuana, Van Buren County sheriff’s deputies said.

A fourth suspect allegedly involved in the robbery remains at large.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 3:30 a.m. report of a breaking and entering Sunday, June 2, at TruLeaf Dispensary, at 265 Crandall Parkway in the village of Lawrence.

Police said the dispensary owner saw several people inside the building – through surveillance video – and called authorities. Upon arrival, police witnessed the suspects carrying bags of marijuana and other products out of the store and to a vehicle.

When spotted, police said the suspects fled back inside the building. Three of the suspects exited through another door and fled into the woods nearby. One man was arrested while trying to get into a getaway car, police said.

A second man was located inside the business and taken into custody. Police said a third man was later located walking down I-94 near County Road 681 where he disappeared into the woods. The man was found walking north on County Road 681 and was apprehended by deputies.

The three men arrested are between the ages of 18 and 23 years old and are from the Battle Creek area. Police said a fourth suspect is still on the loose.

The vehicle used in the robbery was reported stolen out of Battle Creek, police said.

The three men arrested were lodged at the Van Buren County Jail on charges of burglary, larceny in a building, possession of burglary tools, and resisting and obstructing police.
