Bauxite teen arrested after traffic stop, allegedly had half a pound of marijuana

A Bauxite teen was arrested early Friday following a traffic stop for driving without headlights after over half a pound of marijuana was allegedly found in her possession.

Izabell Serenity Hunter, 18, who lists a Bauxite address, was taken into custody shortly before 1 a.m. and charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, more than 4 ounces, punishable by up to six years in prison, and an unclassified misdemeanor count of driving with no lights at night.

Hunter, who lists no prior criminal history, was released that same day on a $2,500 bond and is set to appear July 16 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, at around 12:50 a.m. Friday, Hot Springs police Cpl. Phillip Vanderburg saw a blue Honda CRV pull out of the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, 1125 E. Grand Ave., without its headlights on.

He made a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of East Grand and Spring Street and made contact with the driver, identified as Hunter, and allegedly noticed “a strong odor of marijuana” coming from inside the vehicle.

In searching the vehicle, Vanderburg allegedly found a backpack on the passenger side of the vehicle which was found to contain 8.125 ounces, or 0.5o7 pounds, of marijuana. Hunter was taken into custody at that point without incident and transported to the Garland County Detention Center where she bonded out shortly before noon.
