Hudson Valley bust nets more than 40,000 hits of LSD, marijuana and guns

Two men were arrested for guns and drugs after a traffic stop in Newburgh.

On June 10, the New York State Police say troopers were patrolling South Street in the city of Newburgh when they observed a 2005 gray Honda Pilot in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver, Aden Albino and his passenger Yael Garcia, both from Newburgh. While speaking with Albino and Garcia, troopers say they observed an open can of beer in the vehicle.

Troopers searched the vehicle and say they located a hidden compartment and a loaded 9mm Polymer 80 Ghost Gun with ammunition under the passenger seat of the vehicle. K-9 units did a search of the vehicle and located approximately 1 gram of LSD and approximately 562 grams of cannabis. A search of the center console trap revealed four AR-15 full-auto switches.

Albino and Garcia were both charged with:

  • Criminal Possession Weapon 2nd degree
  • Criminal Possession Firearm
  • Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd degree: Ammunition Feeding Device
  • Criminal Possession Rapid Fire Modification Device (AR-15 full auto switches) – 4 Counts)
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th degree
  • Unlawful Possession Cannabis

562 grams of cannabis equals about 1.23 pounds. According to the National Library of Medicine, a dose of 25-micrograms of LSD can cause deleterious effects. There are 1-million micrograms in a gram. By that math, there are 40,000, 25-microgram doses in what troopers say they found in the suspect’s car.
