New marijuana dispensary, Island Pezi opens in Prairie Island | News

WELCH, Minn.-The Prairie Island Indian Community is hosting the first Marijuana dispensary in southeast Minnesota, which it opened with a soft launch on Monday, June 24.

The new business, Island Pezi, has already had hundreds of customers drop by, and now that it is firmly established is ready to host a grand opening on Saturday, June 29. 

The opening will host a variety of food trucks serving tacos, coffee, and more, alongside live entertainment. 

Scarlet Fitzsimmon, a customer at the new store, said the staff were very helpful in finding her what she needed. 

“Stopping by here, I thought I was going to have to wait for over an hour, and it was nice and quick,” Fitzsimmon said. 

The store is a cash only business and requires an ID for entry and at the cash register, but customers like Matthew Dunlap say the store has made the process easy to navigate. 

“The staff are really awesome with helping you out,” Dunlap said,

The store’s grand opening will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., its regular hours are weekdays and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
