I have a smart watch(who knows how accurate it is!) that measures my sleep duration & breaks it down into deep sleep vs light sleep. I always thought REM sleep was deep sleep so thanks for clearing that up. Say I slept 8 hours, is there an optimal portion of that which should be deep sleep? When I was seriously afflicted with MCAS, I didn't sleep much for about a month, maybe couple hours a night. The Dr, gave me a sleeping pill(Sinequan) which I took for two nights. It turned me into a walking zombie so I took the vial back to the pharmacy & told them to dispose of the rest of the pills. I had never taken a sleeping pill in my life & I never will again!
