Sheldon teen arrested for OWI, marijuana | News

SHELDON—A 19-year-old Sheldon resident was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, July 4, on charges of second-offense operating while under the influence, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and first-offense possession/purchase of alcohol under legal age.

The arrest of Braxton Labryant O’Neil Beaver stemmed from the stop of a 2019 Kia Forte for erratic driving on the Highway 60 expressway south of Sheldon, according to the Sheldon Police Department.

Beaver told the officer he was “messed up” and handed over the keys to the vehicle without being asked, according to the incident report.

He had bloodshot/watery eyes, impaired balance and the odor of an alcoholic beverage.

When Beaver stepped out of his vehicle, a marijuana vaping device fell off him.

He also had an open bottle of BuzzBallz Biggies Strawberry ’Rita on the front passenger seat.

Beaver was transported to the police station, where the officer attempted to give him field sobriety tests, but he refused and then lay down on the floor. He was asked for a breath sample, but again refused and said he would do so the next day when he woke up.
