Beautiful song. I remember losing a friend to electrical accident in my mid 20s. They played this glorious song. RIP Bobby & all the sons brothers & fathers lost since.
On 7/8/21my 35yr old Son was called home. These last 3yrs have been a nightmare I can't wake up from. SCA due to a genetic heart condition he inherited from me. The daily guilt and grief are unbearable 😢
Not to take anything from what Vince gill has said about this song, I was flying to new York and sitting with him. He was coming from the country music awards in LA. Bill Monroe sat behind us. I was asked if I wanted to help redesign The Grand Ol Opry. I gave my suggestions and they liked them. Monroe asked me if I wanted to be host of the GOO. I said no,but told them this can,which was Vince Gill. I asked him to write a song that would be played at my funeral. The chorus came from a creation story that was told to me by elders in my reserve in Canada. It says that when we die our spirit will return to the mountains from where it came and that was my input to this song.. I don't know if he remembers me but it's alright if he doesn't,the song got made

My papa used to say he wanted to play at his funeral and lord knows we played it…. believe everyone at that service was in tears. My sister in-law lost her son a few weeks ago by a possible suicide (still under investigation), she stopped eating and drinking and we found her on the floor passed out a week after her son's death. I wanted to remind her memories keep a loved one alive until God decides it's time for a reunion, and had the idea to make a memory video to share online for everyone to remember him. Last night she called and found two songs to remind her "He's with family in a place where she will be one day, when God decides".
Had a great friend who unfortunately took his own life going on 4 years in December. He was like an older brother to me. I learned a lot from him, partied with him, the stories we shared with each other. There was never a dull moment when he was around R.I.P. Corey Craps

Thank you guys for helping me find my way back to My Lord and his love. I have been angry for over a year after the death of my father, then months later my brother in law, and the last was my favorite YouTuber. My father and the YouTuber both died from Pancreatic cancer and liver cancer. My brother in law from an infected wound. My father served fifty plus years in the Lord's service as a United Methodist minister. I was lost in my grief but your beautiful song has brought me back to he who loves me no matter what. So again thank you so much.

My fiancée passed away from complications with her liver and other matters from previous surgical issues for weight loss
