Brother thank you so much I was crying my eyes out most the time, I’m gonna re watch this video many many times, just booked in to see my doctor in 2 hours, Thank you for being here man if I never found your videos I would have gotten worse. Thank you man, thank you ❤️
I can't tell you how many trips I made to Dairy Queen in early sobriety. It was either a blizzard, sundae, dipped cone, a whole ice cream cake or booze. That drive thru really saved me on some BAD days. I instantly felt better as soon as that soft serve hit my lips. I think I needed that sugar hit in early sobriety when I was having a bad craving.
A routine helps so much As a female I invested in good skincare and pajamas!! When drinking I never washed my face and I often went to bed with my clothes on. It makes me feel better to have clean skin and fresh pajamas on I wake up feeling better. I go to sleep feeling better.
Hey LD hope you’re having a great start to the day. Your tips are so helpful LD no kidding. For me the anxiety of looking at the big picture: never drinking again. I have that little voice say com’on you can still drink why do you want to stop?? I never drank on an empty stomach that wasn’t me at all and I drank tons of water. I never wanted to get sick, I’m glad that I did. But nonetheless, the amount of drinking increases as your tolerance increases. Alcohol is just empty calories of poison, it wrecks your health, and eventually will take everything from you. I made the decision of stopping while it was still a choice. I’m grateful to have found you when I did and so many others in this community who uplift me. Hope you and everyone has a great day. Today I will not drink…
20:39 when I was giving up smoking and I went out on my daily walks I always left my wallet at home. If I wanted to buy a can of drink and chocolate bar I would just bring some small change. If you have to go to the store maybe just bring the money you need.
I just found your channel. I have been sober for 13yrs now and I started trying to stop drinking over 20yrs ago. What you said is so true. Today is all we have to worry about. I had cravings for yrs, but I have had many more now with no cravings or thoughts of drinking at all. I had to ask for help and I got it. People just like me who had stopped taught me so many things about alcoholism. I am grateful, and grateful you are using youtube to help others. Thank you.
I think your so right, it's any addiction that needs the person themselves to actually reflect and ask the probing question "what positive" thing is this substance giving me. And what is that substance taking away from me? Good luck and that person has the power to unlock that potential 💪 👍 ❤
Hey LD, Sorry I've been late on all of these!! I've been so busy!! But I did a lot of this when getting sober. At first I stayed home alone or went to the people who were safe and stayed with them. I didn't restrict my diet at all. I ate a lot of eggs and bacon (actually I craved protein a lot), and I didn't try to quit smoking. Still haven't kicked it, but I'm on my way. I watched a lot of movies, got into video games and read a lot of books. Anything to keep me relaxed and calm. The amount of coffee I drank as well! With creamer at the time because, again, I wasn't denying myself anything but alcohol. It really takes the pressure off when you make yourself concessions everywhere but with alcohol. And I drank so much water. I still do. Soon all the benefits of abstinence became so much more valuable than the feelings that drinking ever gave me. I'm sending all my love to you and this whole community!!❤❤❤
Thank you for this. Another great video with very helpful advice.
Apologies this doesn’t relate directly to the subject of this video, but it was very useful as always. I’m off to travel to see my folks in a couple of hours (A 3.5 hour drive), and will be visiting my mother who is still in hospital. I’m on the cusp of a pancreatic flare-up, and would ask the good people here for positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever subscribers are comfortable with.
I can’t cancel, but am dreading a flare, which those who’ve had pancreatitis will understand.
Sorry for the selfish request. I hope people don’t mind me asking here in comments.
I’ll take a look at the video and add my thoughts/comments when I have time to view it again.
I'm loving these daily videos. Gyat!! Don't know why I did that. These videos are bringing back so many memories of drinking in my life. Thank god I stopped when I did. I drank daily from 2004 – 2014. I'll be 10 years sober at the end of this month! 🎉 Blessings from Oakland 🇺🇸
Looking at the big picture will sabotage you every time! You have to take things day by day and not think too far into the future. I can't promise that I'll never drink again, but I didn't drink today and that's all that matters. That's the right mindset to have. Great tips in this video, LD! I love sparkling waters, black coffee, and ginger lemon tea as well; they work wonders for me. I also spend my time reading, playing music, and occasionally watching Netflix now that I've removed the booze from my life. Also, taking Vitamin B1 (thiamine) daily would be a great idea. It's really good for the immune system and drinking alcohol depletes your thiamine like crazy! I take one 100 mg tablet every single day. One last thing, stay away from things like milk thistle or any so called liver detox supplements, they are complete garbage. Just my 2 cents! Hope everyone is having a great week so far! ❤
Great channel. I have learned quite a bit based on your experience. I am researching the interchangable corelation between liver and kidney function. There is some confusion when you discuss fluctuations in weight. It seems that many people are told that alcoholics are more-often very thin due to weight loss and malnutrition, but then you mentioned weight gain issues (ascites..?). Which seems to be more common in your opinion and why? Also, and I digress, have you ever been confronted with questions about many successful people from history being heavy alcohol users but with ill effect? (namely the Royal family, whom I admittedly am a fan of and collect an arrayn of 17th and 18th century antiques related to them and British history, and persons like British PM Churchill, H.L. Mencken, U.S. Grant, and Hemingway?) What is your opinion of them in that many lived relatively long successful lives and their creativity/tact stemmed, (it is said,).. from the bottle? Sorry for the two part question as I did not want to belabor my curiosity regarding the subject
Eating something when having an alcohol craving works. Once iv eaten a meal I give up on the idea of getting intoxicated because it just doesn't hit me as well with food in my stomach.
Thank you!
I’m two weeks sober tonight.
One day at a time.
This video hit very close to home.

Great advice here
Will a time ever come where you down tools and say to yourself I am never going to drink again. Rather than taking one day at a time?

Stay away from tumeric supplements! Plus do not mix tumeric powder with black pepper on your food. Stay away from all supplements!
Also avoid glutamine powder and capsules.
Google the above and do your research!
Love the idea about the reminder ring. I ordered one today. It’s discreet and only I know what it means 💛
Valerian can affect the liver, especially if you take a higher than standard dose.
