  1. It's all just a war of control. Certain people want the power and ability to control everything. This is why many laws and regulations take away rights and individual liberty in the name of protecting. We need smart regulation

  2. Gavin states correctly that the UK is a laggard when it comes to cannabis. The same goes for business rates reform, embracing Bitcoin, anti-business regulation etc.
The UK is swiftly becoming a country that is in a perpetual state of 'managed decline'.

  3. Loved the discussion and the idea that marijuana will not be looked at as a drug. However, I do not like the argument that its not dangerous because it's a plant. I agree marijuana isn't dangerous, but there are several plants and fungi that will straight up kill you if you eat them.

  4. I Was involved in medical cannabis 30 years ago…..the same discussions then as now…..except now it's largely available via CBD. GW Pharma pioneered the research from the UK starting back then with THC…..it's not like this isn't happening. Free access won't happen though, but CBD is freely available. But the quality of products is extremely poor and wildly over valued by suppliers….when you know how it works this is very clear So, the consumer is still being ripped off, but now by the so called advocates. This is the whole grift, and why it's a little bit more complex than the pro cannabis people would like you to believe with their burning heart old diatribes. It's the same with psychedelic research, another vastly over blown area, driven by advocates with idealistic, naive and somewhat dishonest claims largely removed from how the market place of human health actually works and what people find works or is viable for them. Idealism over reality is the defining quality of these type of people who hold a plant up as some sort of fetishistic transcendental symbol of human potential and failure simultaneously.

  5. As someone who has been a consumer of both medicinal psychedelics and recreational marijuana for over a decade, I can attest that medicinal marijuana has proven benefits when used under expert supervision, whether it’s CBD or THC. However, it’s not a cure-all and shouldn’t be treated as such.

On the other hand, while many claim that recreational marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, I’ve noticed that prolonged use has significant negative effects. In my experience, constant use can lower overall performance, affect productivity, and alienate the consumer from social and family circles who don’t partake. THC saturating cannabinoid receptors can slow down thinking, lower intellectual capacity, and increase dependence to feel comfortable in day-to-day life. Although some people manage to function with daily use, it’s undeniable that for many, recreational cannabis can severely impact memory, motivation, and the ability to connect socially.

That’s why, although legalization is essential to properly control its use, the notion that cannabis is harmless is simply false. Let’s use it responsibly and with a clear awareness of its limitations.
