Great video, thank you! Definitely going to build this, this week. I will be using Perlite, but just curious your thoughts on the pros and cons of using Hydroton/Leca vs Perlite here?
Thank you for your wisdom. I really appreciate all you do for us. I'm considering making some of these. I'm wondering if adding an air stone to the water reservoir would be beneficial?
Usually when the soil stays wet for too long and flies are coming then I use gravel to cover the soil and it works. Usually that's only an issue indoors in cold months.
Over the years I came to a simplified design. I just flll a bucket with clay pebbles an or charcoal and put a pot with holes or a tissue pot on top. After some time the roots go down the bucket. I even made a pot from newspaper together with some foil and string to hold the structure (probably not an issue if it is grown a sod and the roots hold it all together)
Where did you get those mesh baskets? Are they located in the landscaping section of a hardware store? They kinda look like the basket end caps you would use for drainage pipes.
What if did not use the weed fabric and cut a hole in the fabric pot then filled the pot with coco with perlite as a wick this would allow the roots to go into the res what anybodys thought?
Are you feeding a liquid nutrient solution, or relying on the growing medium to supply nutrients for the duration of the grow? How would you go about using dry amendments like Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4?
Hey, very informative channel 🙂 What about salt build-up? The reason you top-water coco and perlite substrate is that every time there is small run-off How are the results in the deep flowering time? Do plants stop drinking or continue to thrive? Is it a lazy method/pest control or yield maximiser?
Would an air stone in the bottom bucket reservoir provide any additional benefit? I've got air pumps and stones to throw at it. Thanks for all of your posts, I think this growing option looks inexpensive and low stress.

Your "SUBSCRIBE" button is misspelled! I hope your weed doesn't suck!
Great video. I assume I can do this with 4 gallon buckets?
Superb video. But what about nutrients? Do you have to add any? Is the stuff already in the soil sufficient?
Weed
mesh what us that call with the rocks at the bottom of the net pot
So I built this but it doesn’t seem to be wicking water

Great video, I did notice the fabric pot in the pail, did you put holes in the pail so the air can get to the fabric for air pruning.?
How long will resevoir last before needing to be refilled? Thanks
For feeding. Do you just top of with PHd nutrient water though out the whole cycle.
