It seems safe to say that AIPAC is the biggest reason why Harris is sticking to very specific wording about Palestine instead of getting much needed distance from the Biden administration. It's not just about losing a bit of funding, it's about the very real threat of being directly campaigned against. HARD. Regardless of how she feels on the issue, if she says one wrong word or phrase on the subject, she risks AIPAC throwing their full weight over to Trump's side and running targeted smear attack ads against her. The race is waaay too close as it stands without that.
If she loses this, if other down-ballot progressives lose, not only do Palestinians lose what little chance they have left, but so do ALL the rest of us here in the States. It's horrible and tragic, but we need to accept the reality of the situation. We need to work with what and whom we have, or it will only get worse. For EVERYONE.
If Trump wins, we will end up with Russia-style "elections". We will inevitably lose all rights to protest or even speak out against injustice. We can't make ANY effective change in the system if we lose that ground as well.
