I use it daily for chronic pain but I"m also on six different meds opioids included for chronic pain. Trigeminal Neuralgia being the worst of my problems.
Okay but what about PTSD? Is there not evidence that show's symptomatic relief? I agree with some of the things you said, like ppl won't do something to change the problem, but I found a federal study showing that over the course of a year patients with PTSD, they are 2.5X likely to not meet criteria for PTSD than those that didn't use cannabis. You look at research but you admit the research is bust so what's the point? Maybe I'm upset bc it does help my PTSD and it's an absolute joke that it's still schedule 1. Don't use cannabis if you're young, that much I agree with. Moderation in everything.
I love being told what cannabis does to me and how useful it is by someone who doesn’t consume it. More tell me more of the things it doesn’t do to me from your credible sources that also don’t consume the plant.🙄
I had roommates who were addicted to pot and it wreaked their life, so even though I was originally ok with pot, now I'm just like nah…..there are too many people who will abuse it just like with any other type of drug.
I used it because my sensory issues don’t let me live. It is unbearable and not being able to eat or sleep or take care of my higiene or even wear clothes like the average person has made me really dependent on its “numbing effects.”
I would love to see a video talking about sensory issues and how to mitigate this.
No k2 is a full agonist. Thc is partial. Cbd is known to potentiate thc aswell though. Totally wrong. Thc can be good because of the reason your receptors develop tolerance. You're just thinking of abuse vs if ur got nervous system problems….
I knew a lot of this already from my vast research trying to justify my weed use, but having you explain everything with receipts kind of makes me want try quitting again to see how my mental health improves. I've felt huge boosts in memory and confidence after just a week. Mary always comes calling though
I love the videos but in the future is there anyway to focus the lanaguse around cannabis away from prohibition era language? Cannabis is a much more appropriate name from a professional/medical perspective and while I understanding using marijuana because it is easy to recognize even weed is a better common name than the sigma that marijuana carries. Keep up the awesome work!
Well, I was terrified of weed buecause I thought it would break my brain, but I'm 26 and I don't have problems with addictions (only benefits ahah jk), so I feell actually relieved after seeing this, maybe I will try it once a month or every two months.
My favorite way to use cannabis is about once a week, primarily for contemplation. I can smoke half a joint or less, or eat a small edible (low tolerance is great). Then I'm thinking about where I am in life, what my plans for the future are, how I can do better in various areas, go deeper into spiritual and religious ideas, work on design problems for work or side projects… the possibilities are endless. Keeps it cheap, keeps it special. Or just put on some good music, make some good food, and be happy.
Dr. K, I'm surrounded by ppl who love Marijuana. As an LCSW, I agree with you. I've found unusual levels of anger in ppl my who use it on a daily basis. Thank you for another long, long, but informative clip.❤
The laughing and condescension at the end tells me that you aren't interested in engaging with ideas that disagree with your own conclusions. Good way to shut down criticism. Sad from someone who is supposedly providing educational content.
It’s so funny how he can’t understand basic experimental design and seems to have skipped his intro to social psych courses then is like “DOWNVOTE ME IDC IM RIGHT HAHAHA I KNOW YOULL DOWNVOTE ME” like yeah, because you’re not entirely correct and stated multiple biases while ignoring the scientific method and claiming to be using it. Poor practice, doc.
We've got to find some decent options for people dependent on alprazolam. I was recommended RSO ( full spectrum cannabis oil ) by some people.
But after several videos like this (you didn't mention how it also disrupts REM sleep and dreaming, which long term can effect mental health.. the connection between not dreaming and psychosis is fascinating..) Im finding myself confirming a lot of the info suggesting its got some downsides we need to be aware of, as i experience them.
I had a TBI I believe that weed and the Carnivore diet are responsible for my continuing and rapid improvements I'm still not uncrazy is that a word , anyway yeah Dr has it right it feels good but at least the new school weed does not help with psychosis or the like only short term PTSD benefits but yeah feels good fun so peace pot and microdot😮 I mean party responsibly y'all in all reality though I'm believing that a meat based diet does help psychiatric issues any relevant research Doc… I see remarkable improvements in my own cognitive functions when I can afford to maintain a carnivore diet
I don't use marihuana at all, but I ocasionally eat magic mushrooms. When I finish some specific project and I know I will not have to be very focused in a couple of days I will eat a small piece of mushroom. Those days I listen to music, I sing and I look at my dog with lovey dovey eyes. It enhances the experience, it helps me focus on feeling my body and I have a good time. Some people tell me that I shouldn't do that, but I see it as drinking a beer after work, many people swear that it helps them decompress and all that. I take minimal dosis and I make my mushrooms last for months this way. I never, ever eat these before going to work and I wouldn't dare to drive in that state, I just hang out with my dog. I write if I want to and I reflect on the past days. One of my main issues in life is PTSD and the feeling that I can't rest or that I have to be alert, but this feeling gets a reset on those mushroom days. After it I feel light and happier, it lasts for months until I have some setback and I start feeling stressed again.
Please if your considering using marijuana or know of younger friends who think "legal" is good phase of this drug, stay away. The temporary relief is great, if you have the proper symptoms to treat- but the dependence and slow onset of anxiety and depression are real and take you blindly. It's not as "chill" and safe as it is said to be when you look at long term effects. The dependence and how it ruins your mind is no fun to fix! Strictly treat it like medicine and take as therapeutically and seriously as possible. Healthy lifestyle changes are always key. Its for once in a while, prescribed, or never.
I have used… Nay, abused weed for over a decade, i have been diagnosed with social anxiety (NOT general anxiety that everyone seems to call "social" anxiety) But i did cognitive therapy amd have been able to deal with ot well for the last 4 years or so, have been smoking before the anxiety and after, i think its completely irrelevant to the anxiety.
Now, im just spit ballin here, but, could it simply be that weed makes you feel good, and that… Makes people feel good? Regardless of whether or not it helps with anything, if it makes you feel good, that is a thing, right?

Can you speak on lions main
I feel good about this video. It always felt different than just, pot fixes all
I think i have all my agenda on cannabis and mushrooms, they put me in the right spot!
Weed helped my personal and social development a lot. Getting off weed helped even more.

What does this mean? Brain is mind, mind is brain? Its the same word..
Nope. Makes my anxiety worse. Makes my sleep worse.
I still use it almost daily. Totally self destructive. It's not rational.
I used it because my sensory issues don’t let me live. It is unbearable and not being able to eat or sleep or take care of my higiene or even wear clothes like the average person has made me really dependent on its “numbing effects.”

Hahaha you don't have to convert me
My mind is fucked so I'll take my chances lol
I can smell the comments on this one

22:34 you’re wrong about K2. It’s not THC at all it’s a completely different chemical sprayed on plant matter

Fantastic video, Dr. K. Very interesting and insightful.
