i remember this doc.. i had to take a break because I was so enraged. I really believe the suspect is a police officer..just horrifying.. these are not mistakes. those were choices made.
I am,not at all, surprised that LE would try to minimize these girls' deaths..🫤 Hell, they still do the exact same thing today!! Remember, this prior Summer, there was a dude going around attacking homeless Folks in Cali(not all of the victims were un-housed)but,he killed like 10 people..LE was trying to claim the deaths were unrelated, going on the News and saying, "now don't go around saying we have a Serial Killer operating in the area"..when the deaths absolutely were related, they absolutely had a freakin Serial Killer!! Then, there was like 6 or 7 young ladies Murdered, their bodies were found within like less than 100 miles, and all within a reasonably short time frame..😔 (I can't remember for certain, but I wanna say,the guy was either not caught yet..however,they're CLEARLY related or,this killer was found and he was a Border Control Agent). I could be getting 2 separate Serial Killers mixed up..which is extra scary. 😬 It seems as if Law Enforcement simply do NOT wanna say the words "Serial Killer"!!!! Idk if it's,they don't wanna panic people..🤔 or what. They seem to say whatever to the Public, even lie..to NOT admit there's an active Serial Killer in their area 🙄 You'd think they'd want to warn to to be extra careful. Wtf
22:32 mins..Speaking on the ME and LE "losing and misplacing" evidence 🤨 the last video I watched on this channel(about Witches sacrificing the young girl🙄)the Authorities claimed they lost all the evidence..when they really didn't 😲 wtf EDIT: 1:27:00 mins..😲 Gasp!! Dude,I just talked about this..losing the evidence(or Files)is despicable 😠 but, then "finding" them, all miraculous like 🤨 Come on Bro!!
1:52:49 JFC. What is wrong with law enforcement in League City? "They have been working on identifying these victims the entire time." Realllllly now. That's why it took the FBI a year and a half to convince them to run the DNA. Lordy. What a bunch of a**hats.
When I was young we were always warned to never go that way and if we had to, not to ever stop for anyone or anything and if someone needed help you keep going then stop at a payphone when you get passed there. Hwy 45 is a straight shot from Houston all the way to Dallas, someone could drop some poor girl in the fields and get far away real quick. I have no idea what it looks like today, but then it was a bunch of overgrown swamp land and oil fields.
Tbh the place still terrifies me. I'm in my mid 40s and I've never even passed through there. We always go another route. I doubt any more of the murders will be solved unless someone confesses or DNA. It's sad how many families may never get any kind of closure and those girls may never get justice. If nothing has lit a fire under them at this point, I fear nothing ever will.
something that you did not address directly that kind of stood out to me was the fact that the police did not file a missing person's report for one of the victims (I watched this video over two days so I do not remember who it was), and later "Jane" and "Janet" were left unidentified for so long, having not been a match to any missing persons. It just goes so show how important filing that missing person report can be because their families knew they were missing, and so I wonder if they tried to file a report for their loved ones. I wonder if they could have had their names sooner.
I also want to acknowledge something you mention toward the end, about coroners not caring for bodies properly, leaving them in boxes to further decompose. You said about the remains becoming only bone, but I want to let you know that it would probably be much worse than that. I am in a few taxidermy groups on FB and I am no expert in any of this by any means, but I have learned that, when there is a deceased body in a sort of box or some other container, the decomposition process is different and far more gory than bones. bodies will literally turn into "soup" and I think that that just makes it so much worse when put into this context (again, it might not work that way in this setting because again I am not an expert, but I wanted to put this bit of information out there because it does seem like it might be a meaningful point, if it is accurate [and maybe someone else can chime in on the science-y part to confirm or deny whether this might happen in a coroner's office]).
My grandma lives in a development a couple streets away from calder field and neither she nor myself when i visit really see or hear anything about the texas killing fields
I’m not from league city, however, I am from north Houston. I had never heard of the Texas killing fields before this video. Crazy how close this is to me and to have never heard of it!
Josh & Austin— Thank you for putting on a wonderful podcast where you uphold the humanity, dignity, and right to justice of crime victims who are women & girls. Josh, your daughter is a very lucky little girl to have a dad like you! ❤️
1:45:31 My dad and Tiffany’s brother were in the army together, I am actually named after him. When I found out, later on, about her case and that Reese had been connected to it… it broke my heart for Brent and the rest of the Dobry family. 🥺
Sounds to me that someone in the police department is responsible for these murders. As for Robert, if he was the one who did it, he's a rocket scientist that doesn't mean he has common sense. I know someone that's a genius but has absolutely no common sense or logic when it comes to simple things. Robert's behavior seems logical for anyone that knows the police have done nothing substantial and the only things they have done are screw everything up.
The amount of times I sighed in exasperation listening to these cases 🤦♀️ these poor families. And is America just full of Chief Wiggums? Unbelievable
@lightsout can you look into/ cover the Rainey street ripper case in austin Texas I’m from the uk and came across this on a google search, at least 12 people have been found dead at lady bird lake in the last 2/3 years
Big fan of your show! Have you guys ever thought about covering the Lil’ Miss disappearance and murder in Wyoming? It was a case that really had an effect on my childhood, as I was very young when it happened. I now live in the area where she was found, and it’s a case that still scares me.
When I was a teenager, I was creeped on by Ted Bundy. story short, our High School had a ski club, we went on a ski trip up to Vail, at the resort, this guy kept trying to talk to me, engage me in conversation, every time I looked up he was there staring at me, he even invited me to his car for alcohol, I finally mentioned it to a teacher who was chaperoning, who was also the football coach, he gathered a couple of the bigger senior guys on the team and confronted the guy, a small argument about me being underaged happened and the guy stayed at a distance after that, but I wasn't allowed to go anywhere by myself after that, I was always under the watchful eyes of teachers and the football team, they very well saved my life that day, several months later the coach called me to his office and showed me the news article that he had been arrested in Colorado for the deaths of women from ski resorts, there he was! the same guy from that day,
I live in League City. The killing fields are common knowledge even throughout the Houston area. I haven’t seen any billboards or anything but there is a memorial set up on the fields with headstones marking where each person was found. After the documentary came out my boyfriend and I felt compelled to go and visit to leave flowers.
I will never forget Mr. Miller's quote from the TX Killing Fields doc on Netflix: he hates the path that God has lead him on. So many people have been reunited with loved ones, both living and dead, due to his current path in life, EqquSearch, which is a beautiful way to honor Laura. It wouldn't surprise me if he could trade everything that happened for just one last moment with her. Thank you Mr. Miller, I know this isn't the path you wanted to take in life but I know that there are so many people who are so grateful that you channeled all that energy and rage into something positive
I live in league city and no way does anyone even know what the Killing Fields were or remain to be. It’s unspoken and only remembered by those of us who were raised here when it was an issue.
I live in texas city and there's no billboards about these going up or down 45 but people who have been here for a long time especially those that were around during that time period are still haunted by the cases. But for our generation lol we're infatuated with true crime so when the documentary came out a few years back it sparked back up.
I will never understand why police departments get these huge egos where they refuse help from other agencies. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT????? They are there to solve crimes and seek justice. Not sit on cases for no apparent reason.
13:08 Nope. I’ve lived here since I was born in 1990 and I only recently heard about this case from my dad like 5-6 years ago. Ive never seen a billboard for missing cases either, but maybe one time but it may have been for the movie. Not sure.
I live near the area, and yes, it’s still talked about by the community.
I got to meet Tim Miller at a benefit for EquuSearch a few years ago. It was so humbling, this man has been through so much yet he has also done amazing things for other families going through tragedy!
A friend of my parents worked with league city police and knew alot about this case since we are from league city. I can go take pics if a memorial there.
josh i love this podcast and all of mile higher content so i'm saying this with no ill will but please either get rid of background music or pump it a bit louder bc i felt like i was having auditory hallucinations the whole time i was listening bc it's barely there but it's there STILL

Condolences to the families and victims affected by so much carnage. 😢
Over 2 hours! We’re not worthy 😂🎉❤

I do not think this is the work of just 1 person. And I stand on that. This is giving people helping each other kill folks.
josh is so fed up with investigators lmfao

My school in 2008 (4th grade) did these kits for us (Washington)
I still think it’s a trucker in the area
I live in Texas and I have done an indent-a-kit on my own three children. I had no idea this is why they were a thing!
17:03 omg I was literally right there at an auto shop 2 days ago, right by the gas station. Crazy!!
