I’m halfway through and I cannot continue to watch this lady speak so highly of herself, shit on her husband, and blame everyone else for her problems. Not even into the finances yet. I can’t take anymore.
Ive been in recovery for 11 years, and it worked because the people in my life in the beginning NEVER guilt tripped me or belittled me for past actions – they just encouraged me forward and it saved my life. If she cant move past the trauma of seeing him OD, which is admittedly awful, they need to split. Her attitutude towards his sobriety right now is toxic.
Why is everyone bashing the lady? Sounds like she has been compromising everything for him and taking all responsibility, while he has been feeding her empty promises. He's a manchild. I have a friend that was in a similar position to her and it's hard to watch from the sidelines.

These comments are frfr pissing me off so im gonna call it how it is. This woman is not only a textbook narcissist, she is also an EMOTIONAL ABUSER. This is not just a case of “throwing your husband under the bus” this is ABUSE. It doesn’t matter if the abused is a perfect person. In fact, ALOT of people who are emotionally abused end up picking up shitty behaviour due to being abused. PSA: You don’t HAVE to play both sides of the fence when the abused happens to be a guy
She wanted a partner she could totally control, and is now angry she ended up with a truly useless, zombie man-child. She fell for the affable doofus, and now shes got….a straight up doofus. Whatever she's like personally, she's still right – she can NOT trust him with supporting the children/doing the right thing with her life insurance. She needs to divorce him ("release him with love") and get an iron-clad will for that insurance pay-out.
