Alcohol, marijuana allegedly provided to minor fresh from rehab | News

Port Matilda, Pa. — A teenager just back from rehab was allegedly given alcohol and marijuana by a 22-year-old neighbor.

Orion Jasper Moore of Port Matilda denied giving the 16-year-old any substances when speaking with police at the beginning of the month, Trooper Robert Turnbaugh said. Moore was allegedly seen leaving a home in the 400 block of South High Street on June 6 after a parent smelled marijuana.

According to Turnbaugh, EMS and State Police were called after Moore and two juveniles were caught smoking and drinking. A blood draw performed on one juvenile at the Mount Nittany Medical Center showed positive results for marijuana, MDMA, and alcohol, Turnbaugh wrote in his report.

The teen’s room was stripped and searched for any vapes, cigarettes, cigars, and pipes prior to his return from rehab, Turnbaugh said. Troopers found a can of Bush Light, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, cigars, and a white container with two grams of ground marijuana, Turnbaugh added.

Moore was interviewed the same day at the Port Hotel where he works, according to the complaint. Moore allegedly denied smoking marijuana and claimed to be the only one drinking, Turnbaugh added.

A second juvenile at the home told police Moore drank in front of them, Turnbaugh said. They claimed Moore smoked before coming to the home, Turnbaugh wrote. Moore allegedly smelled like marijuana, according to the witness, who denied seeing the substance.

The juvenile victim claimed to be seeing shapes when told MDMA was in his system, police said. He claimed to know nothing of the substance, but was told by investigators it may have been responsible for hallucinations.

Moore is being charged with corruption of minors, furnishing alcohol to minors, distribution of a small amount of marijuana, and sale of tobacco. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary arraignment at the beginning of August. No bail is listed.
