  1. The issue with fem seeds and herming is because some growers used to dislike chemicaly inducing the self pollination and would instead let them self naturally. what that did was select for plants that were more likely to herm. Since now a days people use the chemical techniques its now back to an even playing field with the normal seeds.
basically colloidal silver fems are == to normal seeds but fem seeds made with more natural methods have increased chance to herm because they select the ones that pollinate self under mild/moderate stress.

  2. Ive been trying to get my plants to hermie just for some seeds and have found it nearly impossible. I guess its two breeds that are too stable lol
Anytime i had a few pollen sacs on a female the seeds were all female plants except once where it was about 3/4 females and 1/4 males. Its a learning curve. Breeding takes some knowledge and patience. Science! Lol

  3. I prefer regular seeds but I enjoy breeding. Feminized seeds are useful for growers that don't care about keeping a seed bank of their own. I will use fem seeds to find mothers to add into my gene pool 😊

  4. It’s using silver to block a hormone produced by the plant that causes it to grow female flowers and in turn it causes the plant to produce a different hormone that causes male flowers to grow and produce pollen it’s not stress induced it’s a heavy metal induced reaction which causes it to happen!

  5. I know some who simply soak start the seed in female hormone encouragement. I can't recall the product but it also included an anti mould agent. Stains the seed red . Old mate had it for pumpkin seed treatment to prevent mould and force positive fruiting …..it was stuff my careless hillbilly mate used to don a full suit and breathing gear to handle and use.
    Overnight soak them plant …
    I imagine a hormone based soak …idk.
Another mate used to take all his seed and put it in microwave for 5 seconds , believing it killed off male seed and leaves them unable to strike, only females survive , he had only rare seeded plant s in far flung intended bush lotto crops …
Another mate used to soak his seeds from randoms in his wives estrigen supplement medication , he always had non-issue with males but a lot of 1/2 heamophradite plants , 1/2 female , he didn't care it kept him in seed he treated again and had improvement untill only rare throwback and usually only a branch …
Many ways to peel a pumpkin
Soaking in female hormone would probably present the most broadly cheap effective method of "femming" seed. .. that said strong male genes femmed will just moph out usually sooner or later. From a genetic standpoint .
Growing from seed , I see always produces better resins , turpines and vigor , cuttings always lack something , idk what but it is very obvious cuttings do not fully replicate the mothers effects , perhaps traits , growth style but not something ….perhaps one of the 70% of compounds in cannabis we can not identify yet … Full rich resiny cannabis only ever from seed , cuttings lack that one small thing , fullness of effect , more shallow less lengthy …idk how to describe . A deep satisfaction or perhaps , soul…idk hard to pin point . From seed I am satisfied , from cuttings , unsatisfied more often ….
Cutting grows are often good but never exceptional , just lacking something to me .
From seed , deeper wholesome effects missing from cutting replication . In my experience .

Oh how I miss my softball size finger rub from weeks of bush stripping ….Ah the good old days.

  6. I've never had a problem with feminized beans…genetics/source of your seeds is critical…As a homegrow enthusiast, I like to harvest all that I grow (limited by NY law)…fems are my best option to maximize return on my investment of time, media, nutes and energy.

  7. man…. I wish these guys wouldnt talk out their butts and try to educate themselves before spreading bad bro science. The way fems are made today is not by stressing. The silver affects the ethylene pathway which causes pollen expression instead of flower expression. It doesnt alter the genetics, to make it gmo, it alters the expression of genetics already there without changing the dna. Also… they are wrong about genetic diversity. Whenever a plant makes pollen, or flower, theres genetic diversity. That's why you cant self a plant and get the parent plant again. I wish they'd stop pushing bro-talk as real science.

  8. What do you expect LOL, you make a female plant a hermaphodrite and cross that with a full female, that makes the seeds 3/4 female 1/4 hermies !!!!

  9. I have to be honest. Ive had almost no issues with feminized seeds from reputable breeders. But then again ive had a few nightmare runs with reg seeds. Maybe a coincidence maybe not? Ether way i like to complete a harvest with the number of plants i started with. Thats a huge win in itself.
    Love from NY

  10. At two weeks into flower my girl turned hermi.
Probably nutrient stress brought about by a faulty pH pen and my inexperience.
Anyway, I've decided to keep it and get some seed stock and some smoke, besides I have nothing to replace it with.
Time will tell if this is serendipity or a disaster!
