If you did not receive your package containing a large quantity of marijuana recently, you are in luck.
The Town of Geneva Police Department is holding it for you.
The Police Department on Wednesday posted a photo of three bags packed with marijuana that were found inside an undelivered UPS package in an effort (very much tongue-in-cheek) to find its rightful owner.
“Town of Geneva Police are hoping to find the rightful owner of this parcel that was returned to UPS last week,” the post reads, before offering a phone number and the name of an officer to call should you believe the package was destined for you.
The post received more than 500 likes and nearly 800 shares on Facebook after more than 24 hours.
The post explains the package was initially delivered to the wrong address and its listed return address appeared to be incorrect. But a certain aroma tipped UPS off that the recipient might consider the package important.
“Luckily there was a very distinct odor coming from the package and UPS knew that there was significant value to the contents inside,” the post said.
The Police Department declined to comment further on the package, citing an open investigation.
But an update to the Facebook post said, “We understand that nobody will be claiming this package and that marijuana is becoming much more accepted in this country. For those of you that are struggling to find the humor in this post or believe that taxpayer’s money is being wasted, don’t worry, it’s almost the weekend.”
If the package looks familiar, you may want to act fast. At least one person has already tried claiming it.
“And for the one person that has tried to claim it we appreciate your humor!” the post said.
