Boardman Trustees looking to ban recreational marijuana dispensaries in township

With the recent passing of Issue 2 in Ohio, which legalized recreational marijuana in the state, municipalities across Ohio are looking to create their own regulations on marijuana accessibility.

Boardman Township Trustee Tom Costello tells 21 News the township is looking to adopt a resolution to prohibit recreational marijuana dispensaries from operating in the township.

This would add to the township’s current ban on medicinal marijuana dispensaries, which was adopted soon after the legalization of medicinal marijuana in Ohio according to Costello.

Costello tells us the township is waiting to hear back from the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ohio Township Association on the language necessary to legally enforce this in the township.

This matter will be discussed at Monday night’s trustees meeting at 5:30 p.m.
